Questa ricerca artistica si pone tra arte e scienza: riflessioni sui processi della creazione artistica si intrecciano ai timori per i problemi scientifico ecologici e alle speranze nell’intelligenza e nella creatività della vita. In un momento storico nel quale i problemi ecologici sono considerevoli, l’arte e la creatività diventano moniti e sentinelle di e per il cambiamento.
“Protagoniste delle opere di Resi Girardello sono inafferrabili, sguscianti creature marine o celesti o esseri sopravvissuti alle estinzioni che si sono rafforzati a tal punto da proporsi come nuovi abitatori della terra, il pianeta “superorganismo vivente” descritto da James Lovelock. L’approccio empirico dell’artista si percepisce nell’attenzione quasi entomologica con cui riproduce e dilata elementi naturali, creando piume o ali di libellula, ma in dimensioni oniricamente ingigantite. Le sue mobili creazioni, realizzate con plexiglass o matasse di rame filato all’uncinetto, interagiscono con lo spettatore proiettando eterei giochi di luce e ombra fluidi movimenti acquatici. E’ l’atto del filare, gesto arcaicamente femminile, a definire la trama reale e quella significante.”Sono stata sempre affascinata dall’ago – diceva Louise Bourgeois – dal suo magico potere. L’ago si usa per riparare il danno. E’ una richiesta di perdono“. Così Girardello: attratta dall’archetipo mitico delle sirene che prima di essere donne-pesce erano viste come metà donne e metà rapaci, l’artista le rappresenta coniugando la delicata tecnica femminile dell’uncinetto con la forza di un materiale duttile ma resistente come il filo di rame, rivelandoci la pazienza e la tenacia di una Penelope moderna. Il mito è la trama, l’ordito è il racconto; il risultato un’autorevole consapevolezza che scaturisce dalle “devozioni domestiche”, che domestiche non sono più. Sono del terreno inesplorato della fantasia liberata. Per la psicanalisi è la materia del sogno, per l’artista è la materia della creazione. Sogni? Se siete rapidi saprete afferrarli prima che prendano il volo nuotino lontano da voi, in una dimensione futura o remota.

Inspired by the Gaia Theory of James Loveock, the exhibition presents some of the creatures that populate a metaphorical future planet, a living being, kept alive by the harmony between the living elements.
The exhibition focus on water theme and the all works represent archaeological findings from the future, a warning for today’s man to look in a conscious way to the future.
When ecological problems are considerable, Art becomes a warning to the public, through a creative point of view.
“The protagonists of the works of Resi Girardello are elusive, shelling marine or celestial creatures or beings surviving extinctions that have strengthened to the point of posing as new inhabitants of the earth, the planet “living superorganism” described by James Lovelock. The artist’s empirical approach is perceived in the almost entomological attention with which she reproduces and dilates natural elements, creating feathers or wings of dragonflies, but in an oneirically magnified size. Her moving creations, made with plexiglass or coils of copper yarn in crochet, interact with the spectator projecting ethereal games of light and shadow or fluid water movements. It’s the act of spinning, archaically feminine gesture, defining the real and the significant plot.” I have always been fascinated by the needle – said Louise Bourgeois – by its magical power. The needle is used to repair the damage. It’s a request for forgiveness”. So Girardello: attracted by the mythical archetype of mermaids that before being women-fish were seen as half women and half raptors, the artist represents her by combining the delicate feminine technique of crochet with the strength of a ductile but resistant material such as copper wire, revealing the patience and tenacity of a modern Penelope. The myth is the plot, the warp is the story; the result is an authoritative awareness that springs from “domestic devotions”, which are no longer domestic. They are unexplored terrain of the freed fantasy. For psychoanalysis is the matter of the dream, for the artist is the matter of creation. Dreams? If you are quick you will be able to catch them before they take flight and swim away from you, into a future or remote dimension.
