Installation at SPAZIO THETIS (Venice-Arsenal)
A speaker connected to a solar panel sends the mixed sound of the annoying and familiar, buzzing mosquitoes, given by the rotation of wings, at a frequency of over 800 beats per second.
The installation visually consists of a large cloth of tulle where dozens of large mosquitoes are wedged made with copper recycled wires.
For 20 years Resi Girardello, inspired by the studies on the Theory of Gaia on the cooperation of all organisms in the formation of a single self-regulating complex system, which thus maintains the conditions of life on the planet, has embarked on an artistic journey on the theme of climate change focusing on the power of insects, and on the dynamics of balances within micro and macro ecosystems. Mosquito is a symbol, a tiny “untrice” (“plague-spreader”), called P- UNTRICE, as a vector of disease and threat of pandemics for the future, especially for the underdeveloped countries that suffer the consequences of products from the richest nations.
The P-UNTRICI installation is intended to be a kind of ironic provocation and fits into the more general project of Spazio Thetis, a place of scientific research and experimentation and dialogue between Science and Art.

Uno speaker collegato ad un pannello solare manda il suono mixato del fastidioso e a tutti familiare, ronzio delle zanzare, dato dalla rotazione d’ali, alla frequenza di oltre 800 battiti al secondo. L’istallazione consiste visivamente in un ampio telo di tulle dove s’incastrano decine di grandi zanzare realizzate con fili di rame ad uso elettrico riciclato.
Da ormai 20 anni Resi Girardello, ispirata dagli studi sulla Teoria di Gaia sulla cooperazione di tutti i organismi nella formazione di un unico sistema complesso autoregolante, che mantiene in tal modo le condizioni di vita sul pianeta, ha intrapreso un percorso artistico sul tema del Cambiamento climatico concentrandosi sul potere degli insetti, e sulle dinamiche di equilibri all’interno di micro e macro ecosistemi. La zanzara per Resi è un simbolo, una minuscola untrice che lei chiama P- UNTRICE, in quanto vettore di malattie e minaccia di pandemie per il futuro, soprattutto per i Paesi sottosviluppati che subiscono le conseguenze dei prodotti dalle nazioni più ricche.
L’installazione P-UNTRICI vuole essere una sorta di ironica provocazione e s’inserisce nel progetto più generale di Spazio Thetis, luogo di ricerca e sperimentazione scientifica e di dialogo fra Scienza e Arte.
